The Sunshine Coast depot is one of the busiest and most wide-reaching depots in the East Coast Traffic Control network. With crews operating daily from Brisbane right through to Gympie, and support extending further north to Hervey Bay and Bundaberg, this depot plays a major role in keeping Queensland’s roads, worksites and communities safe.
And with continued growth across the region, we’re on the lookout for more accredited Traffic Controllers and TMI holders to join the team.
A region that never slows down
From the Bruce Highway upgrades and Sunshine Coast rail corridor works to regional events in Hervey Bay and flood recovery jobs near Bundaberg, there’s no shortage of activity across this zone. The Sunshine Coast depot acts as a central hub, deploying crews to meet the needs of civil contractors, council projects and public events.
On any given day, you might find our teams:
-
Managing lane closures in Brisbane’s northern suburbs
-
Setting up detours around Gympie or Noosa
-
Supporting emergency works near Maryborough
-
Helping coordinate traffic at a coastal event in Bargara
This reach means consistent work, diverse job types, and the chance to be part of one of the most experienced traffic control crews in the state.
Meet your new Area Manager: Brenden Baxter
Brenden Baxter has recently stepped into the role of Area Manager for the Sunshine Coast depot. While he’s new to the position, he brings a steady hand and strong focus on regional service. With large-scale works continuing to roll out across south-east and central Queensland, Brenden’s leadership comes at the right time.
He’s supported by a seasoned team of supervisors, dispatch coordinators and admin staff who ensure every job runs smoothly and safely.
We’re hiring now across the region
If you’re already accredited and live anywhere between Brisbane and Bundaberg, we want to hear from you. Our crews work across a huge footprint, and we regularly need qualified people in:
-
Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore, Caloundra, Nambour)
-
Gympie and surrounds
-
Caboolture and North Brisbane
-
Maryborough and Hervey Bay
-
Bundaberg and Bargara
-
Smaller regional areas across the Wide Bay–Burnett
Whether you’re looking for ongoing shifts close to home or willing to travel a little further for bigger projects, there’s something for you.
What we’re looking for
-
Accredited Traffic Controllers (TC1 or higher)
-
TMI holders with field experience
-
Drivers with own transport and a professional attitude
-
People who take safety seriously and show up ready to work
We don’t run formal training, but if you’re qualified and keen, we’ll help you find a place on one of our regional crews.
Work that’s steady, local and respected
The Sunshine Coast depot has earned a reputation for reliability. Councils, civil crews and event organisers know they can call us and get the job done properly. That means our workers are often the first call when new work comes in — especially when time is tight or the public is involved.
It’s not just about setting up signs. It’s about making sure communities keep moving, safely and with as little disruption as possible.
Covering coastal towns, highways and growing communities
This region includes a little bit of everything — busy arterial roads, small towns, rural highways, tourist hotspots and growing coastal suburbs. That variety makes the work interesting, and it means no two days are ever quite the same.
Our crews might be setting up a site at a major roundabout in Caloundra one day, and managing traffic around roadworks in Childers the next. It takes flexibility, attention to detail, and local knowledge — which is exactly what we look for in every team member.
